My name is Cindy Busscher and I am a discharge planner on the older adult unit at Pine Rest Christian Mental Health Services as well as a member of our referral relations and employment assistance teams. Pine Rest, the fourth largest behavioral health provider in the U.S., has been the preeminent partner in West Michigan for decades. It is the proven leader in behavioral health services in the region. It offers a full continuum of services including inpatient and partial hospitalization, residential and outpatient services, addiction treatment and recovery, extensive child and adolescent programs, senior care services, as well as specialized assessment and treatment clinics. In addition to the main campus in Grand Rapids, Pine Rest also has 19 outpatient locations throughout West Michigan and Iowa. For more information, go to www.pinerest.org.
At Pine Rest, we work with a number of people with dementia and their families. We recognize how stressful dementia is, how difficult it is to navigate through the dementia journey, and how challenging it is to secure the right resources when needs arise. We are grateful to collaborate with so many wonderful community organizations as part of Rethinking Dementia Accelerating Change board and hope that our efforts will provide needed education on dementia, promote early diagnosis, and create a coordinated resource guide. I personally love working with people with dementia and their families and am passionate about connecting them, along with their families and care providers, with community resources. I find joy when people with dementia discover appropriate and available services and when hope is provided to individuals and their caregivers in the midst of challenges.
