My name is Jennifer Lepard and I am the President and CEO of the Alzheimer's Association Greater Michigan Chapter.
The Alzheimer's Association provides care and support, funding for critical research, and brain health education through its local chapters and our national presence. We are the largest private, non-profit funder of research in the world. Through our strong network of local offices, staff and volunteers, we engage the community in education, support, and awareness activities.
We are thrilled to be a strong partner in the Grand Rapids community with a staff of 5 located in GR that can assist families with support groups, education programs, and care consultations. Our work is amplified through our local partnerships with other community partners, health systems, and research institutions in Grand Rapids. Rethinking Dementia facilitates and supports these relationships as we all work towards a world without Alzheimer's. We are thrilled to be a partner in this fight.
Brian Pangle is the President/CEO of Clark Retirement Community, and has been a Rethinking Dementia board member since our founding in 2015.
Dementia is a scary word that people don’t always understand. It is well known that dementia includes memory loss, but it can also include things like loss of reasoning or judgement, difficulty using language, and challenges in communicating effectively.
