Board Member Profile - Sarah Banks

Sarah Banks serves as vice president of neurological health and orthopedic health, Spectrum Health Delivery System, at Spectrum Health. In a dyad partnership with two department chiefs, she is responsible for programmatic development of the neurosciences and orthopedic departments during a time of significant growth and maturation. She focuses on strategic planning and growth to increase quality, improvement opportunities and efficiencies while inspiring a high reliability safety culture. With Sarah’s leadership, Spectrum Health fosters strong relationships with regional partners, independent providers and other service lines. 

Sarah joined Spectrum Health in 2003. Previously she worked for the medical products and healthcare systems divisions of Johnson & Johnson, as well as University of Michigan M-CARE. She earned her Master of Health Services Administration and Bachelor of Science in biology and biopsychology degrees from University of Michigan, Ann Arbor, Michigan. 

Spectrum Health is dedicated to serving patients with dementia and their families through their multi-disciplinary clinic that brings together neurologists, psychologists, nurses, social workers, pharmacists, and others to provide coordinated dementia care. They are investing in providing care to even more patients by bringing on world class providers with expertise in dementia and memory loss. Spectrum Health recognizes the impact that dementia has on the West Michigan community and is dedicated to helping families get the help they need through Rethinking Dementia’s education and resource platforms.  

Sarah has served on Rethinking Dementia’s board of directors since 2018. Her ideas, connections, and contributions have been an asset to Rethinking Dementia and we are grateful to have her support and that of Spectrum Health.
